SAMEGRELO
"Orkoli Winery" is a distinctive family-owned cellar located in the village of Mukhuri, Chkhorotsku region of Samegrelo. Named after the traditional Megrelian wine jug ("Orkoli"), the brand harmoniously blends the unique winemaking traditions of Western Georgia with a modern vision. The winery focuses on reviving rare, endemic grape varieties and crafting premium-quality natural wines.
Story
The winery was founded in 2017 by two friends and wine enthusiasts, Giorgi Gegelia and Beka Gakharia. Inspired by the exceptional microclimate of Mukhuri and a deep passion for local viticulture, they set out to revive forgotten Megrelian and Imeretian grape varieties. By employing traditional Qvevri methods and eco-friendly practices, "Orkoli" quickly established itself in the Georgian market and has successfully expanded its presence internationally.
